Costs
The following costs should be taken into account while planning your stay in India:
Before the departure
- Visa: You will need a visa from the Indian embassy allowing you to work in India. It costs €145 (for 6 months). We will be glad to help you with all the formalities.
Important: You need a contract or an official letter from the Indian company confirming that you intend to do your internship there. - Insurance: The exact cost depends on the provider. Prices range from approximately €80 (for 3 months) to €160 (for 6 months).
- VIBE Internships fee: €490 (see Application)
- Vaccination: The cost depends on the injections/vaccinations required and on your health insurance.
There is a possibility to apply for various scholarships. We will be glad to help you in the search and the application.
Flight to India and back home
The cost of the flight is determined by the season and booking time (the earlier, the better)! You should avoid booking flights during the Christmas period. A return flight (to India and back home) should cost about €500 if you book your flight two months in advance using one of the following Internet travel agents such as Opodo, Travel Overland, McFlight , Momondo , Travelocity, Skycheck.
Monthly costs
- Living costs
Living costs depend not only on your expectations, but also on the city in which you will be living. They are of course much lower than in Germany. For one month, €150 should be sufficient. Mumbai is more expensive than the rest of the country; however it also offers the best opportunities. For this reason the estimated cost of living in Mumbai is €250-300. All companies provide accommodation.
Salary
Internships in India are targeted at motivated and ambitious students that regard it as an investment in their future career. Interns in India are paid less than in Europe because work experience is a mandatory part of education in India. Internships in well-known, prestigious companies are expensive and are considered an investment for the future.
The salaries paid by the companies vary significantly. Indian interns usually receive €100- €200 per month. VIBE Interns are usually paid higher salaries that may reach €400-€600.

Please take into account that our estimated numbers can only give you a rough idea of the costs. It does not include the costs of vaccination, travelling in India etc. Also living costs, salary and ticket prices may vary.
